Controlar Celebrates World Creativity and Innovation Day

For the third consecutive year, Controlar organized an internal event dedicated to promoting a culture of innovation and creativity, reaffirming our commitment to nurturing an environment where creative ideas can thrive.

Under the guidance of our R&D+i team, Controlar employees were invited to take part in a collaborative board game designed to spark reflection, and idea-sharing on the importance of standardization in the development of our machines.

Throughout the game, teams navigated each stage of a machine’s life cycle — from sales and project planning to development, procurement, assembly, programming, and final installation — facing real-world challenges and proposing innovative solutions. The game was a fun, engaging, and realistic experience accessible to everyone, regardless of their role, whether technical or administrative.

This initiative reinforced Controlar’s commitment to continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration, giving a voice to all those who contribute daily to the excellence of our projects.

Whether in art, science, technology, or business, creativity and innovation are essential engines for progress and transformation.

Controlar Awards: Recognizing Employee Value

Taking advantage of the occasion, we also celebrated our top performances during the Controlar Awards, a ceremony dedicated to awarding employees who stood out over the year in various areas. This recognition is a testament to their value and dedication as active and participative contributors to the company’s evolution.

As we celebrate this day, we had the opportunity not only to acknowledge past achievements but also to look towards the future, fostering a culture that values continuous innovation and collaboration. Together, we turn challenges into opportunities and ensure that our journey is marked by progress and excellence.

About World Creativity and Innovation Day

Celebrated on April 21, the United Nations World Creativity and Innovation Day highlights the importance of creativity and innovation as essential drivers of sustainable development and global problem-solving.

It serves as a reminder that creativity goes beyond artistic skill; it is a fundamental competency needed to drive change in various fields, such as business, society, and technology.

From the perspective of João Queirós, Director of Innovation at Controlar:“Celebrated annually on April 21, Creativity and Innovation Day is an opportunity to recognize and encourage the human capacity to think outside the box and create innovative solutions. This day reminds us of the importance of embracing new ideas and approaches to tackle challenges and improve our lives. Whether in art, science, technology, or business, creativity and innovation are essential engines for progress and transformation.”

This Is How We Celebrated World Creativity and Innovation Day at EIIT – A Controlar company

On April 21st, to mark World Creativity and Innovation Day, we at EIIT decided to organize a different kind of internal activity—one designed to let everyone share ideas, collaborate as a team, and most importantly, have a good time imagining the future of our company.

We launched the Initiative and Creativity Contest, a challenge where teams had to answer one main question: What will EIIT be like in the year 2035? From there, each group was free to develop their vision however they wanted: what we do, what technologies we use, how we work, what the office atmosphere feels like, and so on.

We created teams of five people, mixing profiles from different departments, and gave them a week to prepare their proposals in a simple format: a maximum of five slides or two PDF pages. The goal wasn’t to create something lengthy, but to be creative, bring fresh ideas, and think about where EIIT could head in the coming years.

We received a wide variety of proposals—from new business models to fully digitized work environments, along with ideas to improve sustainability or social impact. Some even made us smile. And that was exactly the point: to think big, imagine without limits, and work together as a team.

After all the proposals were submitted, the organizing team selected the five that stood out the most in terms of originality, feasibility, and teamwork. These finalists were then voted on by all employees, and from that vote, the winning team was chosen.

As a prize, each member of the winning team received a €50 gift card to spend on a popular online shopping platform.

Beyond the results, the best part was seeing how everyone got involved. Initiatives like this help us break out of our routines, get to know each other better across departments, and continue building our team culture. And who knows… maybe one of these ideas will end up becoming part of EIIT’s real future.
