World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development was proclaimed by UNESCO at the 40th General Conference in 2019 and is celebrated worldwide on March 4 of each year since 2020.
The date offers an opportunity to highlight engineers and engineering projects in the modern world and to improve public understanding of how engineering and technology are essential for today’s life and for sustainable development. It is hoped that the United Nations and, mainly, governments, civil society, public and private sectors, schools, universities and citizens, make this day a reason for awareness actions.
There is still a long way to go, especially to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), to deal with the impact of climate change, environmental issues, growing cities and the challenges of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.
Controlar, as an innovative engineering company, guides its strategy towards implementing actions in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the reduction of the carbon footprint with a view to carbon neutrality.
The theme of World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development 2023 is “Engineering Innovation For a More Resilient World”.
