At Controlar, we reinforce our environmental commitment by linking each new machine installed to the planting of a tree.
This initiative will enable the estimated removal of 27 tonnes of CO₂eq over a 30-year period.
In 2025, the trees were planted as part of an initiative led by LIPOR, in the Renaturalization and Floodplain Area, integrated into the Leça River Corridor, in Matosinhos.
Several native species were planted, carefully selected to support the ecological balance of the area, including ash, hawthorn, Portuguese oak, birch, black willow, white willow, and alder buckthorn.
This initiative focused on increasing the density of the existing vegetation cover, creating better conditions for shelter and development of local biodiversity. At the same time, it contributes to enhancing the carbon sequestration capacity of this riparian ecosystem, playing an important role in climate change mitigation.
The plants were sponsored by the “Cork to Cork” project from the Municipality of Maia and by Controlar.
More than simply planting trees, we are actively contributing to biodiversity, carbon capture, and the development of more resilient ecosystems.
