Validate BMS quality in an automated test line

Controlar’s automatic BMS test line brings together quality-validation stations for battery management systems used in electric vehicles. Robotic handling supports precise movement of units, while the test configuration can be adapted to different BMS types and customer specifications.

  • HIPOT, resistance, functional and RF power-level tests
  • OMF firmware flashing, secure-mode provisioning and network testing
  • Application and inspection of PCB conformal coating
  • Printing and inspection of certification and final-product labels

Verify the electronics behind battery management

Battery Management Systems help electric vehicles manage battery power, range and efficiency by monitoring and managing individual cell voltages, module voltages and high-voltage battery temperatures. These functions require validation during development and manufacturing to support reliable operation.

The line performs leakage-current testing to identify flex-cable damage introduced during installation, alongside resistance measurements between PCB test points and busbar connections. Customer-defined functional tests and RF power measurements are complemented by operational-mode firmware loading through JTAG, secure-mode provisioning and network validation using the customer’s equipment.

The process also includes applying and inspecting the PCB’s conformal coating, together with printing and checking certification and final-product labels. Robotic handling supports precise movement of the units, while the test configuration can be adapted to different BMS types and product specifications.
