On May 21st, Controlar embraced the beauty of cultural diversity by hosting an event open to all its collaborators to celebrate the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development. The event was a true reflection of the company’s commitment to fostering inclusivity, understanding, and appreciation among its employees.
The World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development is celebrated to highlight the richness of the world’s cultures and the essential role of intercultural dialogue for achieving peace and sustainable development.
Controlar created a lively atmosphere where employees from different backgrounds could come together, share their unique heritage, and learn from one another.
At the heart of the event was the exhibition showcasing items representing the diverse cultures of some of our international collaborators, as well as some of our sister company locations.
From Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Angola, Mexico, India, and Malaysia, each nationality was given a designated area where participants could display traditional clothing, artifacts, and other symbolic objects. The exhibition acted as a window into the customs, traditions, and history of each country, allowing our collaborators to immerse themselves in a multicultural experience.
Controlar’s event also featured a delightful spread of dishes from the seven represented nationalities. From Portuguese pastéis de nata and Brazilian caipirinha, to Mexican tacos and Indian curry, coworkers had the opportunity to enjoy a wide array of flavors. The culinary journey didn’t end there — Spanish tortilla, Malaysian satay and Angolan muamba were among the other inviting options available.
To set the mood and enhance the festive ambiance, the event featured traditional music from the different cultures, encouraging everyone to embrace the spirit of unity and diversity.
Beyond the sheer enjoyment of the event, Controlar’s Cultural Diversity Day served a greater purpose. The opportunity to learn about different cultures and appreciate their distinctiveness helps to break down barriers, reduces biases, and builds stronger connections within the workplace. Such events create a sense of belonging and inclusivity, enabling individuals to embrace their own identities while celebrating the differences that make us all unique.
